Band Story
Born from hard roads, small rooms and songs that needed telling.
Ray Mercer & The Remedy Men are a deep blues-soul band built around the voice of Rayfield “Ray” Mercer — a weathered baritone singer whose songs sound less like performances and more like late confessions.
The band’s roots run through the American South: small churches, factory towns, roadside clubs, union halls, funeral homes, family kitchens and back porches where music was never just entertainment. It was memory. It was survival. It was medicine.
Before The Remedy Men, Ray moved through short-lived soul-blues groups and road bands that never became famous but left something in his voice: smoke, restraint, regret, patience and the ability to make one line carry the weight of a whole life.
The first real seed of the band came when Ray met guitarist Silas Cole in a small club outside Jackson. Nathaniel “Nate” Brooks brought Rhodes and Hammond warmth. Eli Turner and Jonah Bell formed the rhythm section. Miles Granger added the horn voice. Then Grace Holloway stepped in — not as decoration, but as another kind of truth.

Nathaniel “Nate” Brooks
Founding member. Rhodes warmth, Hammond grace and church-meets-jazz memory. Nate gives the band its harmonic floor.
Upright Bass / Electric Bass
Elias “Eli” Turner
The ground and pulse. Patient, deep and steady, giving the songs body, dignity and weight.
Drums / Brushes / Percussion
Jonah Bell
The drummer who knows when not to play. Brushes, dry snare, slow pocket and silence between the words.
Muted Trumpet / Tenor Saxophone
Miles Granger
The elegant outsider. A horn colorist with midnight flair, short answers and just enough danger to keep the room awake.
The Remedy Voices: Grace Holloway leads the vocal color of the band, supported by Clara Mae Ellis and Mabel Carter when the songs need more gospel-soul depth. The voices are used sparingly: memory, mercy, call of home — never stadium choir.

Grace is the lead voice of The Remedy Voices. Visually she is young, elegant and composed, but her voice sounds older, deeper and more experienced than her years. She is not Ray’s duet partner in the usual sense. She is memory, mercy, home, conscience — and possibly the next star of Just For The Blues.
